a true historical document: first ever recordings by teenage singer Roy Ellis a.k.a. Mr. Symarip, back by the cream of those days‘ musicians: Ernest Ranglin, Rico, Georgie Fame, Tan Tan…
A truly historical document: Roy Ellis first ever recordings, 50 years after the original release, never before repressed in any format!
In 1964 Jamaican teenager Roy Ellis released two of his first compositions, backed by an incredible lne-up: Ernest Ranglin on guitar, Georgie Fame on organ, Tony Washington on piano, Eddie ‘Tan Tan’ Thornton playing trumpet, Rico on trombone, Sonny Burke on sax, alongside some others who Roy Ellis can’t recall half a century later…
The recording was produced by Sonny Burke in 1963 and came out in 1964 on the UK Ember Records label; these two unique gems have been remastered and now see thelight of day on a deluxe 7”, with previously unseen pictures and liner notes written by Roy Ellis himself!
